Résumé

L’orthoposturodontie est un concept posturo-occlusal. Le trijumeau est un véritable nerf postural et explique ainsi les interrelations entre l’occlusion dentaire et la posture. La relation cranio-mandibulaire est le seul référentiel postural, la relation de classe I fournissant un biotype adaptatif avec une posture optimale. La posture peut se résumer à une tête équilibrée dans l’espace par rapport au plan de Francfort. Cinq chaînes musculaires issues du crâne assurent la stabilité de l’homme debout. Le chirurgien-dentiste devient l’architecte du crâne et en modifiant la relation cranio-mandibulaire, il influence et corrige la posture du patient. Une méthodologie de travail originale est ainsi présentée afin de satisfaire à ces critères posturaux. Le chirurgien-dentiste se trouve investi d’une nouvelle responsabilité.

Abstract

The orthoposturodontie is a postural and occlusal concept. The trigeminal nerve is a true postural nerve and thus explains the interrelationships between dental occlusion and posture. The cranio-mandibular relation is the only postural reference frame, the relation of class I providing an adaptive biotype with an optimal posture. The posture can be summarized with a head balanced in space compared to the Frankfurt plane. Five muscular chains resulting from cranium ensure the stability of the man upright. The dental surgeon becomes the architect of cranium and by modifying the cranio-mandibular relation, he influences and corrects the posture of the patient. An original methodology of work is thus presented in order to satisfy these postural criteria. The dental surgeon is invested of a new responsibility.
